Frontman Nick Holmes had this to say: "It's going to be amazing to play the Draconian Times shows again, DT was a huge success for the band; it seemed to be exactly the right album to do at the right time and to a certain degree was definitely the end of a chapter for the band. We always considered the album to be a "better" version of its predecessor Icon and using Simon Effemy again for the third time, I think we were all on the same hymn sheet and knew exactly what we wanted and what the album should sound like.

We had done a pretty extensive touring schedule for the Icon album before it, and there was already a decent buzz around about the band, In the 1990s without the Internet you could only really gauge how things were going once you walked onto the stage and saw how the crowd responded to songs! But after the DT album was released the response was phenomenal. Knowing that DT is still considered by many as being among their favourite albums of all time fills me with great pride, and I'm very grateful to have been part of it all and now having the chance to be here again playing it in its entirety is phenomenal. We are all very excited and can't wait to do the shows live, I really hope we see you all there and you have as much fun as us!"

Paradise Lost - Guitarist To Sit Out Tour, Select Dates Cancelled

Already last week, lead guitarist Greg Mackintosh was unable to continue with Paradise Lost's "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" tour of Europe due to a terminal illness within his family. Greg's father was taken critically ill some weeks ago, yet Greg decided to commence the tour anyway in the hope that future news from home would be positive. This unfortunately was not the case, therefore (as of 6th November 2009), Greg will remain in England to support his relatives during this difficult time.

Milly Evans, (Paradise Lost's long-standing guitar technician, and keyboardist from Terrorvision), will fill in for Greg with immediate effect. Having worked with the band for many years, Milly knows Paradise Lost's repertoire far more than most, and will endeavour to provide a seamless transition between guitarists. Milly is highly regarded among Paradise Lost's fan-base and is the best person to fill Greg's role in the band for the rest of the European tour.

The band commented: "We apologise in advance to those of you who will be joining us for the European dates and will no doubt be disappointed by Greg's absence. However, I am sure you will appreciate this unfortunate situation was unavoidable and everyone is doing everything they can to ensure the shows run as smoothly as possible."

Now the band has announced the following: "As some of you maybe aware, we have had to use a stand in guitarist (Milly Evans) to replace Greg Mackintosh for a few dates due to a serious illness within Greg's family. We did this with the sole purpose to prevent having to cancel any shows and to avoid disappointing fans that had already bought tickets and were looking forward to the concerts.

So it is with great regret that we have to unavoidably announce that some gigs must be postponed for now and rescheduled as soon as possible. This is due to prior commitments Milly Evans has with his own band. We are working round these to fly him back and forth wherever possible to minimise any disruption to the tour, but we ask you to bear with us in this difficult time. The list of gigs to be postponed are as follows:

03rd Dec - Romania
04th Dec - Bulgaria
05th Dec - Croatia
10th Dec - Switzerland
11th Dec - Germany
12th Dec - Switzerland

If there are any further up-dates we will bring them to you as soon as possible. Thanks again for your understanding."

Paradise Lost - Third New Song And Video Online

Original news, posted on 28.08.2009

British gothic metal act Paradise Lost will release their highly anticipated new album "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" on Century Media Records on September 28, 2009 in Europe and October 6, 2009 in the US.

Now, "The Rise Of Denial", a brand new track from this landmark gothic metal opus has been posted at the band's redesigned MySpace site.

Guitarist Greg Mackintosh comments: "A classic PL song. This was the first song written for this album and the reason I decided to switch to 7 string guitars. It's almost like melodic, well structured grindcore. Dropping to 'A' really took this song in a different direction. It gives the song a kind of crushing, seething anger."

Vocalist Nick Holmes adds: "This song has a more 'old School' PL feel, particularly in the arrangement, and is definitely one of the most aggressive and instant tracks on the album. I find that aggressive vocals only work if the music is equally as aggressive and this is a good example. It was nice to write a song that ventures off musically for a few minutes before tying in at the end. A style we haven't done for quite some time. Lyrically this song deals with pushing problems away, burying one's head in the sand, something we all do at times I guess, but when people do it perpetually, it's a problem."

Also the title track of the album and another song called "As Horizons End" are available for streaming on the band's MySpace.

UPDATE (thanks to 13767)

"Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us", the new video from UK metallers Paradise Lost, has been made available online. The brand new video clip was created by Nathan T Heys / Link Productions.

"Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" is the title track of the band's forthcoming album, which will be released on September 28 in Europe (October 6 in North America) via Century Media Records.

Paradise Lost - New Album Title And Cover Art Revealed, Title Track Online

Original news, posted on 19.06.2009

British gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost have named their upcoming new album "Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us". Vocalist Nick Holmes comments:

"The thoughts behind the title "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" are very much self explanatory, there is so much division in the world caused by obstructing religious belief. We are all made of the same flesh and bone, what makes one religions better than the other, and would any true god allow his creation to destroy itself? The vast number of different so called faiths around the globe, just helps to strengthen my complete denial of any god, and force the belief that religion is nothing more than a man made cash induced fabrication to exploit a human beings natural fear of death."

"Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us", the highly anticipated follow-up to 2007's "In Requiem" will be released on Century Media Records in September 2009! Expect the band's darkest and heaviest effort to date!

In May 2009, Paradise Lost also released their demos "Paradise Lost" (1988) and "Frozen Illusion" (1989) accompanied by six live tracks from the "Plains Of Desolation" bootleg officially on CD for the very first time. Featuring extensive liner notes by vocalist Nick Holmes and a stunning vinyl replica packaging, the strictly limited "Drown In Darkness - The Early Demos" is a must-have for every Paradise Lost fan.

You can now watch a personal introduction into the earliest days of the band at the following link.

UPDATE (thanks to 15393)

A brand new Paradise Lost track, entitled "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us", has officially been launched at the band's MySpace page.

"Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" is the title track from the band's forthcoming album, which will be released on September 28 in Europe (October 6 in the US) via Century Media Records.

The cover artwork, which is based upon a Danse Macabre woodcut by Hans Holbein the Younger (first published in 1538), was created by Stefan Wibbeke at Medialogistics (Lacuna Coil, Poisonblack, etc.).

Nick Holmes (vocals) comments on the track as follows: "This song had a massive overhaul in the last few weeks before recording, and thankfully it worked out well. Unlike many bands, we try to know exactly what we are doing once we are in the studio. So re-writes near recording time are as scary as they can be can be rewarding. This song is swathed in melancholy and the closest thing on the album to a "ballad" perhaps. Lyrically the title says it all. I find faith an oddity in that some people may have such devout belief that the only common ground with another human is death itself."

Paradise Lost - New Song Online

UK metallers Paradise Lost have posted online a new song, "As Horizons End", on their MySpace page.

"As Horizons End" comes off the band's forthcoming album, entitled "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us", which will be released on September 28 in Europe (October 6 in the US) via Century Media Records.

Nick Holmes comments: "This song is about someone who's on a downward spiral. Working too hard and trying to claw back some positive spirit by participating in all the so called joyous occasions in life, socialising and networking but to no avail, the long days have crushed the soul till only disappointment and cynicism remains. This song was inspired by the thousands of dishevelled looking middle aged businessmen I see in airports each year. This track has had a dozen face lifts since its inception and in true fashion, it was never intended to be the first track. Once it was mixed though it was hard to imagine any other song opening the album."

Gregor Mackintosh adds: "The whole point to this song was to capture a feeling of foreboding. Like when a thunderstorm is approaching. All the chord progressions are supposed to give an ominous sense of dread. The mid section lulls you into thinking that you're safe only to discover there is much bigger storm on the horizon."
